Couple Gets Married at Unlikely Place to Honor Bride's Late Relative
At first glance, April Frenzel and Christopher Caldwell's wedding celebration could have been taken straight out of a Halloween story. The couple, who married this weekend, had the ceremony at Laurel Hill Memoral Park, a cemetery in Spotsylvania, VA.
The meaning behind their decision on the wedding venue is far from spooky, though. Frenzel and Caldwell not only wed on the spot they will be buried in but also next to the grave of Frenzel's great-grandmother, Georgia "Nanny" Caldwell. Georgia, of course, meant a great deal to April. "Nanny gave [my mom and me] a home when we had no place else to go," she told a local publication. And according to MyFoxDetroit.com, the bride had promised her great-grandmother that she'd get to be at their wedding. That made the decision easy when Georgia asked them to be buried next to her.
Although the couple, who got engaged last July, were thinking of several other wedding locations, the cemetery had the most meaning to them. "This is the ground where we're going to be one day...I can't think of a better place.
