How to choose the right baby food?
Every mother cares about the health of her baby, which, first of all, depends on nutrition. How correct and natural it will be and depends on the active development of the child. It is clear that for the first 4-5 months the basic diet should be breast milk, but by the first impressive date, half a year, it is time to introduce additional supplements so that the little man gradually gets used to adult food.
When it comes time in the minds of parents, many questions arise, for example, what kind of food to choose? Which one is better? Which is safer? Which manufacturer can you trust? Our mothers never really bothered about this, because in Soviet times there were only a few manufacturers of baby food.
Today, the situation has changed radically - there are a lot of them, probably, even after a chur. But a huge number of colorful and cute jars on the shelves of stores is not a guarantee of quality, but your kid wants to buy the best.
Of course, those brands that have already established themselves in the market of children's products for a long time have already appeared, however, most often, their prices bite strongly, which forces them to turn their eyes towards cheaper and less well-known companies.
In principle, among them you can find some very decent children's products that you can safely give to children, but how to distinguish good baby food? All parents are not superfluous to learn the rules for choosing such a product - it will save you from the next painful process of buying a particular baby food.
What is meant by baby food?
Today, the choice is wide enough, each product, to a greater extent, suitable for a certain age. For example, mixes are one of the most popular baby foods for babies. Most often, they are used in cases when their milk is not enough.
They can be dry or liquid, fresh or fermented milk, there are even those that contain thickeners in their composition, being special substitutes for mother's milk.
Then go to porridge - a product that is introduced into the diet of baby food from about 5-6 months, that is, when the kids end up forming the digestive tract.
Initially, it is necessary to choose porridges, which contain only one type of grain in their composition, this must be indicated on the label. It is best to start with rice or buckwheat gruel, and only after that gradually switch to other species, for example, corn or wheat.
Another option for baby food is, of course, purees. They are very diverse, but each, to a greater extent, suitable for his age. For the first sample, choose vegetable purees, again, one-component. It can be squash or pumpkin puree, in any case, not cabbage, potato or legumes - is fraught with increased gas formation or allergies.
After everything went smoothly with vegetable purees, you can switch to fruit, the fruits that grow in your lane, such as an apple or a pear, are best suited, but you should leave all sorts of exotic options for later.
The most recent introduced berry and meat puree, very carefully and gradually. By the way, it is not necessary to buy mashed potatoes ready, in principle, for the first time you can easily cook them yourself - then you will be 100% sure of their quality.
What you need to know?
So, you have decided on what you need, but how to choose from a specific list of products presented? The first thing you need to pay attention - the inscription, indicating that this is really a product that is intended for baby food.
The fact is that some unscrupulous manufacturers successfully “disguise” their products under the nursery with the help of images on the packaging of various hares, cartoon characters, and so on. However, they are not specialized, which means that they can be given only to children who have reached the age of three years.
Carefully read the label: it should indicate the recommended age group, in other words, the children's audience for which this product is intended.
Then find the expiration date: it is individual and depends on the manufacturer and the products used. For example, a good baby puree in a preserved condition can be stored for up to 2 years, in the open - no more than three days.
Often, children's products by young mummies are chosen according to the principle that the lower the shelf life, the better, which means that there are fewer preservatives and other harmful additives. However, this is not always true, and the use of the latter in children's products is completely prohibited.
True, this does not always stop manufacturers who add something. That is why carefully study the composition, it is desirable that there is nothing at all except the main component and water. Mashed potatoes, mixes and cereals are sold in different packages, each of which has its own advantages.
For example, glass jars are good because no additional impurities from the packaging penetrate the contents. In metal cans, for example, the same puree is stored longer, but cardboard packaging is cheaper, which is also an important factor, especially when you have to buy quite a lot. And finally - make sure that the packaging is marked or labeled, indicating the passage of quality control.
Pay attention to the packaging itself - it should be without any deformations and other flaws that may affect the composition of the contents. By the way, sometimes on the packages you can find a mark - "thermalized". This means that the product has undergone several degrees of processing, including stages of high heating.
The vitamin composition of such products, of course, falls, but it is stored for a long time, which means that it is convenient to take them somewhere on a long trip. The most popular manufacturers of food for the smallest are: Nestle, Hipp, Nutricia, Gerber, Agusha or Top-Top.
