Everyone wanted to save a favorite flower in its original form. And each had a series of unsuccessful attempts. Under the rolling stone, the water does not flow, therefore, to sbychi dreams begin to experiment 🙂
Unsuccessfulexperiments with table saltin order to warn! Salt pre-calcined in the pan and laid the plants in a still warm dryer. Yes, the color and shape are kept perfectly, but the moisture coming from the plant cements the salt. Extract and clean the plant without damaging, it becomes impossible. The only way is to soak the salt ball or throw it away.
Even after the washed sheet was safely dried in air, it was not possible to completely release it from the crystals of salt, which protruded at the edges. What can we say about the tenderest petals. Of the plants I tested, only Nephrolepis was purified from salt.In the photo there is a living fragment of Nephrolepis dried in table salt:
In the following experiment, a desiccant was usedsemolina. A moist lump formed around each plant, but not as strong as a salt lump; they managed to get rid of it without loss. The form has been preserved, but the Hungarian lilac, for example, has lost its color. It was not possible to clear the dry plants to the end, in some places the croup was stuck tightly.
Plain quartz sandas a dehydrator disappointed in childhood, however, maybe it just didn’t try very hard: it didn’t clean it properly and didn’t harden it.
I decided to tryvolcanic sand, that is porous, for bathing chinchillas and other rodents.The pet store offered 4 packs from different manufacturers. The sand we need is porous, therefore it should be light.
We weigh the packaging in the hands (they have approximately the same volume, and the weight is very different) and choose the lightest. The selected package was not the most expensive, but not the cheapest, 330 rubles / kg. Taking into account repeated use, the price is acceptable. At autopsy, it turned out that this sand does not differ much from semolina in appearance and feel. In the photo in two identical jars of grain and sand:
At first, they were skeptical about drying in the microwave, local overheating and all that ... but the chinchilla sand was enough for only a few jars, I really wanted to quickly see the result and lay down freshly harvested plants. I decided to put one jar in the microwave for a minute with an average mode. The sand tank is pretty hot. Upon cooling, the sand is very easily poured without damaging the sheet.
Resultsurpassed all expectations: the ideal shape and color, stuck sand grains are easily removed with a brush.

Flowers of an azambara violet are not yet obtained, turn brown.
Plants in the microwave can be easily dried, making them very fragile. Do not immediately try to clean the dry plant from adhering grains of sand, let it lie in the air for about an hour. The dried-up fabrics are saturated with moisture from the air, they will come into balance with the environment, then you can only clean the dried flowers with a soft dry brush. Particularly resistant sticky sand grains are removed with a toothpick.
