    Therefore, to answer the question of when to sow petunia, you need to know by what time you want to get flowering plants. Count the required number of weeks from the planned date and get the time of sowing flowers.

    Optimal time for sowing seeds

    In central Russia, you can begin to sow petunia from mid-January until the end of March. And in the south of our country you can start sowing from mid-January, then you will get a flowering plant by the end of April. At a later time of sowing, the petunias will bloom only by the middle of summer.

    Since the seeds of petunia are very small, they should be mixed with sand when sowing, and sow better into boxes prepared specially for these purposes (wooden or plastic). In the open ground, petunias are not sown, only seedlings are planted when the threat of frost is finally passed.

    If you grow seedlings under room conditions, you will not always be able to withstand the right temperature and light. Therefore, by the time of growing plants, it is desirable to add a few more weeks.

    Which seeds are better?

    For growing petunias, try to buy seeds of well-known companies in large specialized stores or centers. Petunia seeds are preferable to buy in pellets. Also, be sure to look at the expiration date, since last year's seed germination rate drops sharply.
